| Description: | The Retail Merchandiser is responsible for ensuring that products appear in the right store at the right time and in the right quantities. This involves working closely with the buying teams to accurately forecast trends, plan stock levels and monitor performance. While the buyer selects the lines, the merchandiser decides how much money should be spent, how many lines should be bought, and in what quantities. |
| Duties: | � Plans product ranges and prepares sales and stock plans in conjunction with buyers.
� Acts as the liaison with buyers, analysts, stores, suppliers and distributors.
� Maintains a comprehensive library of appropriate data.
� Produces layout plans for stores.
� Forecasts profits and sales using computer programs.
� Optimizes the sales volume and profitability of designated product areas.
� Plans budgets and presenting sales forecasts and figures for new ranges.
� Controls stock levels based on forecasts for the season.
� Analyses every aspect of the best and worst sellers (for example, the best selling price points, colours or styles).
� Ensures that best sellers are fully potentialised.
� Monitors slow sellers.
� Takes action to reduce prices or set promotions as necessary.
� Gathers information relating to the customer reaction to products.
� Analyses previous season's sales and reporting on the current season's lines.
� Accompany buyers on visits to manufacturers to appreciate production processes;
� Visits suppliers and stores for best/worst seller meetings;
� Meets with suppliers and managing the distribution of stock, possibly negotiating cost prices with suppliers;
� Identifies production and supply difficulties and dealing with them as and when they occur;
� Manages, trains and supervises staff.

| Qualifications: | � Retail electronics and/or technology experience a plus.
� HS diploma or GED required.
� Ability to create attractive and creative merchandise displays within the framework of company merchandising standards.
� Willingness to cooperate and work with others to achieve results.
� Detail-oriented.
� Willingness to follow through and complete tasks to meet deadlines.
� Heavy physical effort required.
� Routine lifting of 20lbs or more.
� Walking, standing, stooping, reaching and lifting will constitute 100% of a work shift.
� Use of equipment to include but not limited to rolling racks, pallet jacks, hand carts, ladders, dollies and trash compactor.
